OK, I've finally gotten to the point where I have work that can be farmed out to other people. A lot of it is boring, tedious XML work, but it needs to be done, and the less time I waste on it, the more time I can spend programming .
If you have any experience with XML (and XSD schemas), or if you're interested in learning for the sake of helping, feel free to drop me a PM.
I'm also in need of graphics for a lot of the new buildings that were not in the original BOTF. Any artists out there with some spare time are welcome to contribute.
Music, as always, is in short supply.
If you are a programmer experienced in C# and have a strong background in either AI or 3D graphics with Managed Direct3D (or, even better, the XNA Framework), then I'd love to talk to you.
If anything I described strikes you, please drop me a PM.
Cheers,
Mike

Are any of these still valid? Maybe you should update this in case people are still looking to help.

Where do we see that the new structures are called that need images? I guess we should see some of the old ones being used so we know how to make it look.

I still maintain the list of structures that are in need of images Here Kenneth. I know it looks like a gigantic list but we really do need images for all of those structures.

OK. I think I will wind up the 26 minor race models left and maybe a few other problem and then move over to the 2D where the need is more pressing.

I would like to help, however I am a very very very very busy person, alot has to do with my wife's schedule, the rest with 'me' time such as video gaming, modding, and college (which wont start back until August ) I am proficient in Music composition (although I do mostly Rap/Hip Hop/R&B kind of instrumentals) I have a program called Fruity Loops XXL 8.0 which actually can cover a wide range of music, and I, being an avid trekkie, would be able to compose some music for most of the Majors except maybe the Federation, but I can also do that if needed (albeit I am not sure how good that would turn out lol) I will leave you a sample of my Instrumentals on my Youtube music page, which can be found at the link below: http://www.youtube.com/breezemuzik863Please do not take the style of music into consideration, but the quality of the production. I am sure any musicians here know what I am on about Please PM me and I will compose a sample of your choosing when I have some spare time Tethys

It may just be me but I think that is very nice and OK for background game music. I can see myself managing the empire to that toon. PM Mike for an id and password to upload to sharepoint. That is where you can also check out the toons we already have. It is located here.Race specific music and general background is good but Mike may have more specific needs now.

No it's not just you. A really nice piece. In my earphones some of the lower background was a tad distorted, but I LOVE the piano part that starts at time index 3:38 and especially when you get to 3:49 - 3:50 or so and then on to the end. Good work Tethys. Tunes Bashir

Hey Bashir, yeah I notice that its distorted now, I dont know but I think that is due to Youtube or Windows Movie Maker (dont know which one, both have problems IMHO ) When I rendered the audio it was not distorted, just very bassy as one might say. Thanks for the feedback, glad you like the piano, I love piano music personally

There is definitely no instrument like the Piano.
On another note - since you are a music lover. What do you think of the piece "New Sight" in the "Star Trek Insurrection" sound track - Jerry Goldsmith? I find it particularly haunting. A fabulous piece for what was happening on screen at the time. Bashir

Its not bad. But i prefer pieces with a bit more feeling in them, such as ST:FC's Evacuate. I would think of more but im rather dry atm, if you know what I mean...

That is wonderful. BTW We are not so easily upset by material that is not directly part of the game. We do not allow adds, flaming or material inappropriate for our younger viewers. (younger viewers like Matress)

Theme from Powder - I have a recording of this sung by Sarah Brightman. The piano version is the best however. Wonder where I can get that recording? Interesting you bring this one up because the subtle haunting lightness of it is exactly the reason why I like "New Sight." For me it is full of emotion. I wonder if it has been done in piano. Ive composed a small piece on piano using FL 8 Studio XXL which I will upload shortly and post a link for. Quite busy atm. I dont care too much for the ending, but the middle of the song is the best part, the ending i might have rushed and it doesnt sound like it goes with the rest of the song, but I had to end it somehow, or it would have gone on forever (just like this sentence) The tempo is 50 bpm Short Piano song

Yes, the Piano is one of the best instruments there is, tethys. I actually had piano lessons when I was a kid...well, keyboard lessons anyways. I like Harp music as well, and I think it is a very under-appreciated instrument. Being a Zelda fan, I also love the Ocarina. There's some brilliant Ocarina songs on Youtube, especially by a guy called Docjazz4. The iPhone Ocarina app is really cool as well. Actually, combine all three - Docjazz, iPhone Ocarina, and Zelda, and What You Have Is Awesome! And if you like wierd instruments, I recommend the Theremin. Actually, anyone that likes Scifi shows should like the Theremin. They used it a lot in older shows.

I don't happen to have Sarah's Phantom of the Opera. I'd probably like it though, since I like almost anything she does. Wow the iPhone Ocarina app!! Captain

Thanks praguepride - Send a private message to mstrobel. He will know that is needed at this time. You can ask him about XML files and the maps.
