Gameforge, the German based company, will be eliminating 100 jobs as it sets to realign its current studio structure. According to the company's website there are 450 employees, however it is not known if this is before or after the layoffs.
The restructuring of the company is to make sure it has a "sustainable future." Gameforge has cancelled the games Hellbreed and Mythos, and might stop development of Star Trek: Infinite Space if a co-publisher cannot be found.
"Through a more efficient organizational structure, we can optimize our use of resources and great potential for further growth increase. This will strengthen our long term position in the dynamic market for online games," said Alexander Roesner, CEO of Gameforge. "We take responsibility for our employees very seriously and strive to find a socially responsible solution for the affected team members." The company is set to split into two divisions, one focused on game development and the other focused on publishing. This restructuring is taking place after the merger between Gameforge and Frogster in August.
