Vjeko - did you finish tests before Christmas break? How's engineering? Any 3D drawing yet?

Here is my Christmas present to you. There is just a little more work to do. It needs the Happytrek audio and I will be getting video to him soon. http://youtu.be/fgqe5wZQrikThere is an update to blender that I need to install and adapt to. Then I can start on the Dominion.

I just updated the YouTube link above to the video being sent to Happytrek for audio. There are a few last minute changes.
After the Dominion I will create beta versions of the Klingon, Federation and Romulan.

While recovering from a hard drive failure - Here is the first steps on a Dominion Intro Video. I am wondering if it can get away from a blue world and still look like something the Dominion would be after.

Well it can be a terran planet but doesn't have to be blue...examples Romulus and Q'onos...I've sent you the texture pack...all they are missing are light textures I could make easily if you want. Planet could have more geenish or full green tone, purple...even yellow

Thanks, that is good advice. I want to stay away from other major races as the player will decide on friend or foe. The general color shift sound best for now.

Well the continents look too earthly...one of the planets I've sent you is generic terran...perhaps you could try with it.

Thanks and I will give it a try as soon as the files are reloaded on my workstation hard drive.

I just had a nice long session with Luke talking about 3D programs and animation. It was very helpful. His work on Iron Sky is outstanding. He worked with some of the guys from shows like Galactic and Voyager. It was convincing about a move on to Lightwave. Being able to move files with him and Captain B is just part of it.

I know man...I know...I wanted to say that flipping them isn't enough to convince someone it's a different planet.

Two more hours to restore the files on my hard drive. Then I can map your alien textures. For now all I have is from NASA.

Ok man...no need to report to me xD I'll probably be sound asleep by then.
I'm sure that whatever you do will be truly beautiful...can't wait to see it. And if the textures aren't good enough I'll try to make better ones.

What about that planet making program? Celestia or something? People have mentioned it before. Can we not use that?

Celestia is a program for 3D viewing of the cosmos and is based on real textures. As far as I know (and I have been using the program for years) it cannot be used to create "planets" but it could be used to try them on and see how they look like from various viewpoints in the context of a star system.

I will check that out when I get the time. It is taking longer to restore than I thought. There was an issue with a boot-able disk. Things have changed for Vista / Windows 7 so I have to reload. Also will be converting to Lightwave so that is going to take more time. Anti-Distinctlyminty has done some great work on Iron Sky. It will be a must see if just for the CG.

The NASA photos are more high res but on youtube and even at the larger res in-game your work should be OK. Yes, I will need some lights at night. I can us any old clouds. The other thing I could use is a black and white that splits land from water for refections. Also a bump map for elivations if you can do that. Work on the image is on hold while I move to Lightwave and finish up work on my PC restoration.

I am not dead yet but learning Lighwave is going to take a while.
In the mean time here is a model I need to clean up. It will be a minor race boat under attach in the Dominion video. After that it could become one of our minor race items. WIP
