Which was an artificial event that they did have warning about. After all it was their power systems overloading. The fact that they didn't notice any warning signs from their systems says more about Klingon safety regulations than anything else.
But my point is that yes, stuff like that happening IS realistic, just doesn't seem fun to play or balancing, for it to happen to me as a player or to the enemy. Frankly it would be just as weird to see an enemies world blow up and throw him off balance like that.

I agree, that sudden planet disasters without warning aren't very realistic in many cases. Hmm? AFAIK, there will be terraforming. We're just not sure yet how it will be implemented - if BotF-like, or through the build queue.

At very least it leaves some flexibility in events handling and how planets function in the game. Heck, weapons might exist that could change planet conditions! That might be a tad over powered though. If the scripting exists for it at least then even if this sort of thing isn't in the main game mods could do some wizardry with terraforming/anti terraforming

Picard! I just noticed your sig! That episode was one of my all time favourites of STNG! Very poignant. Loved that they carried it into other eps too, the flute etc.
