I was just curious if the Supremacy Project was closed down long ago or if its still under development. I got the alpha version and love it. All relevant information i cant find date back to 2008 which is a long time considering. I'm just curious if its a closed projector still in the works...

Mike is no longer working on the code but I am trying to develop a combat engine for Supremacy using Unity. It will be a long time before any updates but it is not completely dead.

Unity seems the best option to get the job done. BTW, I was looking at their webpage and it seems you can even add lens flares: http://unity3d.com/support/resources/assets/lens-flaresWe can't have a Trek game in the post JJ era without lens flares now, can we?

well then you might want try contact count23 again, ask where he got with his project he showed up on afc earlier this year: http://www.startrekmodding.com/phpBB3/v ... ilit=unityI already pointed him to supremacy but he didn't show much interest at that time however, maybe interest has changed and he can support you a bit :-)

Thanks to both of you. I have downloaded some free script for lens flare. I am trying to reach count23. We will see. He does sound like someone that could do the job. It would be nice, very nice.

it's some time he posted and as you can read, he already knew of supremacy by that time: count23 wrote: Yes, I've seens supremacy and am quite impressed with the work they've put in with their job so far, but unfortunantly as i said before (Or I think I did), I think that it's better off using an existing engine like unity over building one from scratch because it would save a substantial amount of time since most of the componants are there you just need to assemble them (I was going to use the analogy of having an orchestra and just need to write hte music, but that's just has hard, hehe). I deliberatly chose not to approach either project because I frankly dont like the game style they're making (That was the "carbon copy" reference in my first post), I want something that's more dynamic, futurisitic and takes advantage of the 13 years of Game development in TBS and 4X games since 1999. So it probably won't be easy to convince him in major participation, but still maybe he could support you a bit with the unity engine.

From a first look that I had, it seems quite powerful, but I'm not really sure (I'm not that bad in C#, but this is beyond my current knowledge) how it could be connected to the current Supremacy code. Seems very promising though as there's an incredible amount of tutorials, demo and other free material out there.

Using it in Supremacy is an issue for another day.
