Hi All,
I've downloaded Supremacy 20130203 from the forum, the application crashes on loading with the below error message. I'm assuming any error logs would be txt files and would be stored in the applications root directory, I looked for txt files and found none, so sorry can not give any additional error messages except what I've written. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated, I'm running Win7.

First let me say welcome Shaun. It is great to have you here.
Thanks for the information. I am glad to see you are not running Windows 8 as we know there are issues with that. The lack of an error.txt file does suggest that the code never ran up to the point where it could record the error file. That early crash, as you pointed out, also suggest there could be a missing component that it needs to run. The first thing that comes to mind is a missing class from the .Net library. I had thought Windows 7 had .Net but there could be something that is out of date there. I believe the current build runs on .Net 4 so you might need to upgrade. I do not know if that is what that message you did get relates to.
If that does not work some of the people around here know more about it than I do. Again, welcome and I hope this helps.

Thanks for the welcome.
Windows 8 issues, join the long list.
I have .net 4 installed not sure which exact release, I'm not at my machine at the minute, but definitely have a version of .net framework 4. Anything else I can check?

I believe the following is the list that needs installing. At least that's what I have in my records. dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64 dxwebsetup vcredist_x86 xnafx31_redist XnaPatch

Win7 has .net 3.5 but the feature is not always installed. So I have 3.5 and 4 don't have 2.
I don't have the xnapatch, do you have a link for it? I have everything else.

Going back to Windows 7 removed the problem but we never knew the exact nature of his problem.

Do you have the DirectX redistributable? Make sure you have all the pre-reqs: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4797

Do you have the DirectX redistributable?
NO, will have shortly, although just to note this isn't on the list of pre-reqs
•The Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (note: you want the full framework, not the "Client Profile"; after it's installed, you should see both the "Client Profile" and "Extended Profile" listed in your control panel) •Microsoft DirectX Runtime •Microsoft XNA Framework v3.1 Redistributable •Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable •Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
I have all the above installed, I'll shortly have the directx redis, downloading now.

Double click on SupremacyClient.exe and the next thing to appear is the error message previously posted.
So not very far.

We will be testing a different teams re-coding of the original BOTF that is available. I will try to pass that information on as it becomes available. With luck it will run on your system.

Really Kenneth? That next week? Sorry hestershaun, I wish I could help you. Actually, I did think of something. It may not be the compatibility with Windows 7. It crashes like that sometimes if part of the data set is missing. Although, If you downloaded a Zip file, it should all be there.

I did try the following versions
SupremacyTest_20130203 SupremacyTest_20130131b SupremacyTest_20130101
All with the exact same problem, there has to something wrong with my pc setup but for the life of me I can not figure out what. I tried disabling uac all together but that didn't work either.

according to http://mrpfister.com/programming/demyst ... -messages/ (found in google) that crash was by .NET4.0 and you can identify method and offset in IL code by Problem signature 7 and 8 (not that I could make use of it) what's causing the issue I dunno either you might try to run with admin rights, or reinstall .NET4 or continue to search google also some security software might interfere for some reason in the end try get it run on another system and reinstall your's eventually EDIT: oh, missed your problem signiture 9 you posted, sry Problem Signature 09: System.Security.Security so it MUST be a security issue of not gaining the rights to perform a necessary action so again try to run with admin rights and check any firewall or other security software stuff that might interfere EDIT2: another idea, where did you extract? if in program files folder, this one does not allow to write files in win7 x64 / win8 x64, so try extract to a different folder good luck & HTH

When I saw the security message I then tried, the following. Running from a folder on the desktop, then on a my e drive, then in my documents -> all no go Then tried running as administrator from various locations -> no go Disabled UAC all together, restart and try again -> no go
I have already uninstalled .Net 4 and reinstalled
If at first you don't succeed try another fix.
What I will try later is disconnect from network, uninstall my AV and then try, I'll let you know how I get on.

well I know the System.Security.Security exception. It IS caused by missing access rights. I just dunno which ones. Might be network or file access or just to set the process priority or something.

Doubtful it's file access in this case, I have added the users, administrators, system groups to the file security tab and granted full access to all three groups.
