He looks more like a dark skinned Jem'hadar than a Klingon... :jemhadar:

Anyway, some more reviews:

As part of a promotion Paramount sent out movie posters, red and blue 3D glasses and this link. At noon PST the new trailer in 3D will be at this link. That is 3 PM EST and something like 8 PM GMT I guess. Hope you have some 3D glasses on hand.

Found this on the official movie website. Do you suppose this really exists? Probably a Photoshop job.

Either a Photoshop job or it's just a promotional thing, ie they just modified the streetlights in one of the Paramount lots, or it's the work of a Trekkie mayor in a small city in the US. Either way, live long and prosper :vulcan:

The guy from Tremovie.com watched the film both in 3D and 2D and just posted a (mostly) spoiler free review:
http://trekmovie.com/2013/05/03/trekmov ... -darkness/

However, reading between the lines:
Spoiler: show
1) He says that "Alice Eve... is being set up for more in the next one", so she's not killed and survives the movie
2) "John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch) is indeed an agent from within Starfleet", so Harrison is indeed Harrison not Khan. Unless, what he says is a lie to throw us off, but I doubt it.
3) The big-E will get another beating in this film as: "the USS Enterprise takes a beating and doesn’t really dish it back.". Isn't the big-E supposed to be the flagship damn it? :klingon:

During a Red carpet interview at "Star Trek Into Darkness'" London premiere, Bleeding Cool reporter Ben Mortimer spoke to the film's writer and producer, Damon Lindelof, regarding the next movie installment of "Star Trek",

Lindelof admitted that since plans for "Star Trek Into Darkness" we're already in place even before 2009's "Star Trek" was released, it is safe to assume that plans for the next Trek sequel are already in place. He was "suggesting that there are already ideas for 'this is what the plot is going to be, this is who the bad guy is, this is what they're against'".

Lindelof went on to say, "You can never see enough Klingons, and I think in this film we've given the audience a little taste, but there's also the promise that there's a larger conflict on the horizon, and that would be fun to see."

When asked if Benedict Cumberbatch would be back for another Trek film, Lindelof coyly stated, "To answer that question would be to determine whether or not he actually survived the movie, but if he survives this movie, I think we would be incredibly stupid to not see him again."

Bleedingcool.com also reported tweets by Trekmovie.com which said that Lindelof does not see how J. J, Abrams can return to direct the next Trek movie without "cloning technology".

The second Trekmovie.com tweeted a statement by "Star Trek Into Darkness" writers and producers, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, which said, "Just chatted with Orci and Kurtzman ... Say Paramount is very keen for the next movie in 2016 for 50 anniv".

Since today is Star Wars day, does anyone know if there's a Trek day? I'm not talking Federation or First Contact day, but Star Trek day?

Every day is Star Trek day.

Here are two B-Roll videos showing the behind-the-scenes of Star Trek Into Darkness. This is the raw footage the studio provides to TV networks for their reporting on the film. Many parts don’t have audio and there is no music or narration, but anyone interested in how movies get made should enjoy these.

Simon Pegg had an amazing idea on how the different timelines TOS+TNG and Treks 09+13 fit together:
http://io9.com/simon-peggs-star-trek-re ... -499064330

Simon Pegg wrote:
Pegg has his own theory about how Abrams' Star Trek fits into the original show's continuity: "I had this idea. I think the we might all be the mirror [universe] crew." Perhaps in the third movie, we'll see that "something's going to go to ****, we're all going to turn bad, Spock's going to grow a beard, and we're going to meet ourselves. That could happen."
Emphasis mine :twistedlaugh:

Well I saw the movie last night. The IMAX version has some fun scenes that look great.
As for the spoilers, I suggest that you don't read them.

The bad guy, plots...etc

Spoiler: show
Is KHAAAAAAAAAN!

He was found by section 31 and awaken in to develop better weapons for starfleet. He goes rogue because they wanted to kill his people while they are still frozen.

We see reversed Wrath of Khan in this movie. Kirk dies in order to restore the warp core and Spock yells KHAAAAAN!

Pike dies in the movie, Enterprise takes a good pounding...

Alice is Carol Marcus, I think she'll be a regular member of the crew if there are some future movies planned

The movie itself is written better than the first one. It's not just an action-explosion-transformers-style mindless piece of ****(I'm not saying the first one was, I was just afraid this one might be), it has good character interaction, less lens flares, some good drama and quite a few connections to the old Trek

If you are watching it in 3D you can enjoy some beautiful space and Enterprise scenes. Perhaps my favorite moment is/are the last 5 seconds with the classic trek score. (this isn't a spoiler)

Damn you vjeko... I couldn't resist and I read the spoiler

Spoiler: show
Actually, I opened and closed the spoiler box as fast as possible, but I still saw the first line... Anyway, I still have to wait a couple of months before I'll be able to watch the movie :jemhadar:

Spoiler: show
Edit: I'm kidding about the earlier "damn you" thing...

Hahahah, no probs man!

Spoiler: show
Why a couple of months? I'm sure it will be "pirated" sooner if you can't see it any other way.

PS - I've written major spoilers 2 posts above...

But it usually takes almost a year for a 720p or 1080p version of the "pirated" movie. And watching it in 480p or 360p with bad sound, awful colours and the occasional bloke walking in front of the big screen is just not satisfactory by my standards. So I usually go to the cinema if it really itches me. :winkthumb:

Take vjeko's advise. Be warned, you'll probably find them to be a bigger spoiler than you think.

Well you can always come here on a vacation and watch it. ;)

Saw it last night. Don't hesitate. Go! It's really good. Abrams nailed the original series interpersonal humor thing. I loved the argument dialogue between Kirk, Uhura and Spock in the scenes after the "Won't fit, won't fit, I am not sure that qualifies" bit of the movie.

The audience I was with, was really involved and loved it. The film was well thought out. Crew relationships were taken to the next level. Two thumbs up :bigthumb:

It was a good episode. Still it took a few years too long to get here.

I see a report that it is performing below expectations so lets hope that means a TV series will be sooner than later in the economic equation.

The change in the Klingon look was a big improvement back in the 1970s. They went from TOS to the ST The Motion Picture Klingon back then. I was not so happy with the Abram Klingon look in this film.

Some interior ship shots were good but they still used the Bud beer plant out in the valley. This time it was improved with some CG work but still not to my liking. Maybe drinking a better beer would help the look.

Yeah I agree. The Enterprise engine room again looked more like the engine room in a supertanker or just plain brewery. In some ways, the original interior of the series was more high tech. I also thought it was rather convenient there was such a long landing "runway" on the dread naught beyond the escape hatch.

I guess admiral bad-guy talked with a Texas drawl to make parallel with George W. Bush. It would seam though that he sent his daughter to school in England at a very early age. That was so she would have a British accent. He hoped they would make a movie out of his story and she would sound cool next to the other bad-guy in the show. It, you see, all makes sense.
