When you have Doug Drexler and Andy Probert designing a new DS-9 station - that makes it almost Canon.
Check it out at Star Trek.com

I haven't read the latest Trek novels... WTF, they blew up DS9??? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

The new station looks nice, but I still prefer the old one as it (obviously due to the Cardassian design) had a sort of an alien look to it.

Yeah, you know it was always my perception that when it came to a TV series or Movie, the script writers ignored what was in the books. Now suddenly because of the new universe JJ timeline it appears that the books are all we are going to have, so NOW they count.

Well, the new station certainly looks nice and from what I can tell, it was designed to look like Terok Nor with some Federation additions. It is a beautiful enough station. Maybe Starfleet after some decades would have upgraded and, in the process, changed the old Cardassian station into something that looks like that. But as I'm not familiar with the book you're talking about, I won't speculate any further.
