Things were getting a little dull so thought I'd start a poll....
Which empire are you most looking forward to playing as when the game's fully finished? What are your reasons? Which gameplay aspects do you enjoy most?
Personally, I'm a Federation man. Never really play as anyone else. I'm looking forward to a more advanced diplomacy options, Starbase 375 type starbases, and strafing massive cruisers in the Defiant.

I'm looking forward to the feds, diplomacy is always the hardest way to win, although klingons are a close 2nd that i'd like to play

THE UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS
can't beat the Feds

1. Klingons.
2. Cardasians
3. UFP
Love the Klingons, or more so, I love being able to wage war and bring planets under my heel w/o my populace complaining like a bunch of babies. Plus, I passed along a pic of a future tech ship for the Klingons to Jiggly, and if it gets added, you better tell those Soverigns to look out.
Like the Cardies for much of the same reasons i like the Klingons, except the intel side always helps keep things interesting when your playing as the Cards. Also cant wait to see the Hulet in action.
Now dont get me wrong, I like playing as the Feds (hey, who doesnt like the home team), to an extent, but after awhile I feel the need to go out and conquer something, which isnt as easy with those Federation hippies.
Now that I'm thinking about it, the Roms will be interesting, because (among other reasons) they will get to use the Scimitar towards the end.
Dominion and Breen would also be great adds. Really the only race I couldnt give 2 sheets about playing as are those Ferengi (Esp if they will be implimented like they were in the original BOTF. I think those programmers either never beta tested the original, in relation to the Ferengi, or had no idea what the Ferengi would be like in "real life", maybe both? I mean even their destroyers and light cruisers were like torpedo boats. How did they end up being the 'hard' race out of all those in the first game?)
Sorry about the ranting But incase you couldnt tell, I really didnt like how they were handled in the original.
PS. SonofMogh, I had you figured for a Klingon kinda guy, but I suppose you are the son of Mogh. I shoulda known you'd be working for the Federation instead of 'your own' people.

Klingons are certainly my 2nd favourites. Just the thought of swarming a battleship with loads of BOPs- always makes me smile.
Yes, being raised by humans I do have a certainly layalty to the federation though...
Any chance I can see that Klingon battleship???

I think the Breen and the Dominion weren't in the original because the game was restricted (by licence) only to the TNG series.

That's it exactly. The Defiant had been in TNG (First Contact), as had the Negh'Var (AGT- sort of).
I put Ferengi up there in case anyone played them. I put Breen as there's a massive response to the Breen thread so I figured they're popular.

Romulans.
I nearly always play as the Romulans. Can't beat the cloak...and the strong intelligence is always nice. Morale is decent to manage.
I rarely play as anfthing else....but I've played all races....Klingon and Cardassians more so then the federation and ferengi.

Go Klingons! Go Klingons!
Just have to love those bloodthirsty warriors who eat their foes hearts and dance on the bodies of their victims

Decisions...why are they the hardest thing to make?
70% of the time, I play as the Federation, since being human (For the most part) I like to support the home team.
The other 30% of the time is split between the Cardassians, and the Romulans.
I love the efficiency of the Cardassians, and the subjugation of entire systems evokes a certain...evil in me.
The Romulan cloak-and-dagger tactics call to me every once in a while - i suppose there is a Romulan in my family somewhere along the line. I can't wait for the new diplomacy options - while my diplomats are giving gifts, my Tal Shiar will be stealing their techs. If knowledge is power...then to be unknown, is to be unconquerable.
I have only played as the Klingons once, and that was just so I could have a go at attacking the other races with colony ships!
And i've been the Ferengi a couple of times - I love their (Unmodded) raider 2's - they can be a match for a warship, if you're not careful.
All-in-all though, I'd say that it's the Romulans that I am most looking forward to playing as in BOTF2. BOTF just didn't do them justice. Now that there are going to be new options, more tactics, and new ways to play, my Tal Shiar will be the envy of the galaxy!

Personally, I love the Romulans. Always have. I win more games through strong, cloaking ships and massive intelligence ventures than anything else. And what is better than reuniting the Romulan Star Empire and their lost, wayward cousins, the Vulcans
My second favorite is the Cardassians, though I hate their ships. I normally expand as fast as I can and then consolidate my empire when the borders are established. Through intelligence and poor computer play, I start nipping systems one by one. The intelligence starts stealing ships and my fleet just protects my newly annexed systems.
I know I am in a minority, but I liked the Ferengi. I like the GUI, I liked their gameplay, and I liked most of their ships. You could make so much money that you could easily grease the diplomatic wheels with minor races.
The Federation has the greatest variety of ships in design, I think. Between the diplomacy and their strong fleets, if you can keep the people happy, you can easily conquer the Galaxy. I think that they are the easiest to play.
My Least Favorite: Klingons. The ships all looked the same, I didn't feel any joy of conquering systems and bleh, just didn't like them.

I am looking most forward to the Dominion, because it will be totally new. Can't wait and play like they do in the series. Gonna kick some ass in the Alfa quadrant.

Come what may, do the Dominion and the Romulans as they wish. The United Federation will be watching , ready to kick their asses in the interest of peace!

Once this game is finally done, we'll need to get a MP game going where we can all play as our favorite empire, and see if we cant prove eachother wrong.

Always remeber that expansion is achieved by diplomacy, Son of Mogh.
Well, not ALWAYS

When life gives you lemons, burn them! (Sorry, I just felt like an obscure German proverb)
I know, i'll put in something that is really deep!
"The universe speaks many languages, but only one voice.
The language is not Vulcan,
Or Human,
Or Klingon,
Or Romulan,
Or Borg.
It speaks in the language of hope.
It speaks in the language of trust.
It speaks in the language of strength, and the language of compassion.
It is the language of the heart, and the language of the soul.
But always, it is the same voice.
It’s the voice of our ancestors speaking through us, and the voice of our inheritors, waiting to be born.
It is the small, still voice that says we are one.
No matter the blood,
No matter the skin,
No matter the world,
No matter the star,
We are one.
No matter the pain,
No matter the darkness, no matter the loss,
No matter the fear,
We are one.
Here, gathered together, in common cause we agree to recognise this singular truth, and this singular rule;
That we must be kind to one another.
Because each voice enriches us, and ennobles us, and each voice loss diminishes us.
We are the voice of the universe,
The soul of creation,
The fire that will light the way to a better future,
We are one."
I know, I didn't make it, but I really like this. Someone should do something with it...now what's for supper?

Now that's IIFO.
Very Trekish and Feds-ish.
Now how would that sound as a victory speech for the Federation?

I wish I knew who is supposed to of said it. I got it off a Trek website a while ago. I just loved the speech, so I saved it as a word document.
Trust me to forget what the website was now!
