I've being reading these forums for the past few months and Im really behind this project (in spirit that is) and I've noticed that the forums have gone really quite over the past few weeks,I'd just like to say to everyone who's helping to put the game together to keep up the good work and you're doing everyone a big favour by putting your spare time into this kinda project,
thanx alot!

Well it has been a bit quit, because we really have discussed lots of things, and are just waiting for the first beta to be released. I was offline for almost a week, so i will be posting a lot more now.

Hi gav! Good to hear from you. You know if there is a need for some things to be done, than just say it. Something else is, i/we actually need your opinion about the botf database and the random events, and if you would like them in or not.
That it, i'm actually really tired at the moment, it feels as if i haven't slept for days..

Pc Gamer want to do a review? 8O
Wow! Just think, we could have a TRULY big hit on our hands! Pc gamer could get a lot of people interested in BOTF2 - and could even spark professional interest in the game...
It's good to hear you're back Gavin, and that's good news about the release date. I was expecting sometime around christmas, actually...

Glad to here that everything is going good in the programming dept. Good news with the release too, its always good to have a more or less concrete time to look forward to. When you say it will be released between now and Sept, I assume you mean the beta, right?
PC Gamer. Cool! If and when they decided to do a review, you gotta let us know when it will be in the mag Gavin.

Err... A question; How far is a "beta" from the actualy game? What I mean is, when you're done with the beta, how much of the work are you done with?

I'm sure different programmers will have different ways of doing things. But from what I know you want the beta to be as close to the finished game as possible. Its really the game being taken for some test runs before its released. If the beta performs well, then it shouldnt take long for the real release. If the beta has got alot of problems, then its a whole 'nother issue.

How is that possible? We have the "God of the Virtual and Master of programing", as I belive he put it.

The Betas not really for getting out bugs Gavs missed, HE shouldnt miss any (dont prove me wrong now..) Its more for checking compatability, Gav can only test the game on machines he owns. And as everyones computer is set up di#fftetly, they may be a problem with a certan instruction on an AMD board with a SIS654fx chipset that he cant test cause he does have that setup. (not that i know what set up(s) he got ) Basically its for that so we can know that Everyone can play the agme, not just a select few that have certain computer hardware.

2 questions tho.. 1.. did microprose permit the creation of this game ?

to answer your questions:
there is no more microprose, so it's kinda wide open
and
the game is free (this is the best part of it all)

I knew Microprose was gone (Bit obvious since they haven't exactly done many games of late...)
But what actually happened? Were they bought out, or did they just go bankrupt? Microprose shouldn't have gone - we could have had more BOTF before now...more Civ before Civ 3...more <whatever else they worked on>
It's SOO annoying when a games company just goes like that. I really don't like it when a new company takes over games development. Ok, I admit that it can be a good thing, new blood and all that, but something will always be lost in the new games.
That said, it's a shame that the same thing happened to Taldren as well (They worked on the Starfleet Command games before SFC3 came out) - I REALLY liked their logo!

Yeah nice logo. Someone know that font? Anyway it's quit normal that this happens in the industry. It's a hard world out there.
Anyway this game is free, this means that a lot of people will try it, because they will think. What the heck, it's free, i will just download it, and try it. And perhaps we can hook them up, so that we will have a massive online botf2 community.

The history of Microprose finally came to an end when, in November 2003, Atari Inc. closed its development studio in Hunt Valley, Maryland, which had been Microprose's original location. That's what happened

I'd say F#&k you Atari, if it wasnt for the fact that I'm playing a fairly new, pretty good game made by them. Sid Meier's Pirates!. The new sequel to the old Pirates! series.

Civilisation was created by Sid Meier for Microprose, as I understand. Civilisation 2, as well.

I've got Civ2: Test of Time. That's was made by Microprose as well.
Civ3 is well and truly Infogrammes though. (Or Atari, whatever you want to call them)
