When we speak of a polarization, it's a protective metal layer on the ship's coat serving as a small reinforcement to the shields protecting the ship from any exposure to any energies as long as shields are active. In BOTE the hull polarization protects you from the 10% damage that would normally pass through the shields from both Beams and Torpedoes, meaning that as long as your ship's shields are active, no damage to its' hull is inflicted during the course of a battle.
